DISCLAIMER: PIRACY IS A CRIME. I ACCEPT NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR ANY PENALTIES FACED FROM ILLEGAL PIRACY. IF YOU DO NOT OWN LEGITIMATE COPIES OF NEW SUPER MARIO BROS. AND A NINTENDO DS SYSTEM, DO NOT PLAY THESE MODS AND DO NOT DOWNLOAD A NSMBDS ROM.

--Introduction--

Thank you for downloading these two full-length custom made modifications for New Super Mario Bros. DS! These hacks took a lot of hard work to make, with the original being in development from 2010 to 2012, and the sequel being in development from 2012 to 2014. Altogether, these mods contain over 150 Brand New levels for New Super Mario Bros. DS as well as the implementation of a 'clone', which mimics Mario's actions in a large amount of levels between these mods.

The Clone Tag Team series has been around since 2010, and since the full release of the original mod in 2010, it has recieved over 10,000 downloads to date (That's almost 1 in 7,000 people! Amazing, right?), and the recently released sequel is approaching 2,000 downloads since it's release last July. It might be a bold statement, but these hacks may have been a resource for Nintendo themselves who have recently implemented their own kinds of 'clones' in more recent games like Super Mario 3D World, Yoshi's New Island and the NES Remix series.

Oh, and be sure to support Nintendo in their tough times and make sure you've purchased a legitimate copy of New Super Mario Bros. DS and the proper Nintendo DS/DS Lite/DSi/DSiXL/3DS/3DSXL/2DS/New3DS/New3DSXL hardware!

--Installation--
These hacks run from the original New Super Mario Bros. DS ROM (The USA version). This means that if you wish to play these mods, you'll need to aqcuire the ROM for New Super Mario Bros. DS from the internet. Due to legal reasons, a direct link to a ROM file cannot be provided, so you'll have to search for it yourself.

You'll know if you have the right file if it is named "0434 - New Super Mario Bros. (U).nds", or something similar.

Once you have obtained the ROM, you'll also need to acquire an .xdelta patcher. For the tutorials the patched described will be "xdeltaUI.exe" You'll also need the patch files for the mods (which are packed in this .zip file as "CLONE_TAG_TEAM_1_(V1.3.1).xdelta" and "CLONE_TAG_TEAM_2_(V1.0.1).xdelta")

Once you have all this, here are your instructions. Note that you'll have to patch each file individually:
-Extract one of the .xdelta patches from the .zip folder.
-Run xdeltaUI.exe and for "Source File", select your NSMBDS ROM.
-For "Patch File", select your desired patch (Clone Tag Team 1 OR 2, not both at the same time)
-For "Output File", select an appropriate directory and name your file. The file extension MUST be ".nds", so for now just name it something simple like "Clone Tag Team.nds"
-Click Patch.
-Your output file should now be modified to play the mod!. You'll be able to play it using an emulator (such as No$GBA for low-end computers and DeSmuME for high-end computers) or using a Nintendo DS/3DS flashcart like R4DS or Supercard DSTWO.

--Updating your ROM for Bugfixes--
Every now and then, bugfix patches may be released to correct some issues people are having with the game. The current patches included in this folder is v1.3.1 and v1.0.1 respectively. You can apply these new patches to a new ROM or your existing modified ROM, it should all work fine.

Changelogs

--Clone Tag Team 1--
Small changes here and there, nothing particularly special.
Scrolling left on Clone levels have been re-enabled after it's implementation in v1.3. If you don't like this, then there aren't any major changes between this version and v1.3 so just stick to v1.3 for now.
The opening cutscene no longer plays if you wait on the Title Screen.
Patch have been changed to .xdelta for Mac users. This also allows more advanced ROM modifications for future updates.

--Clone Tag Team 2 v1.0.1--
1-2: You can no longer be pushed through the ceiling by moving platforms.
1-Tower: Fixed a camera issue with the Secret Exit.
2-2: You can no longer get stuck by jumping over the ceiling of the cave. Values of Star Coins 1 and 2 have been swapped accordingly.
2-4: Getting to the Secret Exit with Mario will no longer cause a Time Up instadeath.
2-Castle: A third Clone no longer spawns if you linger near the exit from the first Sky Area, fixes random instadeaths and audio errors.
2-A: Tile misplacement corrections, small change in level design with how Star Coin 1 is acquired.
5-Tower: You can no longer be pushed through the ceiling with Mini Mario.
Patch have been changed to .xdelta for Mac users. This also allows more advanced ROM modifications for future updates.

--Requested Changes--
-Requests to change the level Time Limits. Most stages are set to 400 seconds per the standard, so I don't feel this is an issue for experienced players, considering Clone levels tend to be shorter than non-Clone levels.

--Possible Changes in Future Bugfixes--
-Removal of Minigames, Mario Vs. Luigi and Options from the main menu as they are mostly useless now. This is doable but as the ROMs have been edited so much at this point, the variables I need to change no longer exist in the ROM.

Note: Future upcoming hacks, like "Super Mario: Endless Earth", will already have this enabled when it releases.

--Troubleshooting--

-What is a ROM?
A ROM file contains a game- it's the file in the cartridges that your Nintendo DS console runs whenever you play a game. These can be ripped and uploaded to the internet, and there are various ways to run them as they are. You'll be able to play ROMs using an emulator (such as No$GBA for low-end computers and DeSmuME for high-end computers) or using a Nintendo DS/3DS flashcart like R4DS or Supercard DSTWO.

-It's not working. What am I doing wrong?
If you don't know what you're supposed to be doing, patching and playing Clone Tag Team 2 may be difficult. If you need more information about ROMs, emulators or flashcarts there is a lot of information to read on Google.

-I found an error. What do I do?
Don't worry, errors happen. Every now and then, you might encounter something weird in the hack like missing sound effects, or something that doesn't seem to be working right. If you want something done about it, feel free to report the error at the official Discussion Thread of Clone Tag Team 2 at the New Super Mario Bros. Hacking Domain. Alternatively, you could also report the error at the Discussion Thread at GBATemp or at DSHack.org.

If errors are fixed, a new revision of the mod will be released. Just check for an update at http://nsmbhd.net/ every now and then to keep up with the latest fixes.

-I can't play Mario vs. Luigi!
This is a known problem that comes with most NSMBDS hacks. ROMs modified in NSMBe cannot work with Download Play, and while it is a fixable error it reduces flashcart compatibility, which may stop the hack from running on your flashcart. If you're using an emulator there is no way to play Mario vs. Luigi mode at all.

Mario vs. Luigi mode may be patched out completely in a future bugfix.

-Is this a virus/some sort of scam?
Don't worry, this isn't harmful. You may have to be cautious of the websites where you download the New Super Mario Bros. DS ROM, but this hack itself is perfectly fine and risk free. It's 100% free to play and download, so if you did pay money to download this file you have been scammed and I urge you to do something about it! Remember, you should only have downloaded this hack from the OFFICIAL SOURCES such as File Trip, MediaFire and the New Super Mario Bros. Hacking Domain.

-Can I get in legal trouble if I play this hack?
As long as you currently own a legitimate copy of New Super Mario Bros. DS and a Nintendo DS system, you should have nothing to worry about. I do not condone Video Game Piracy, this is a not-for-profit fanmade project. However, use this at your own risk as this is a legal grey area and laws are subjective depending on your region.

And with that note, I hope that you enjoy thes hack and look forward to my future fan projects. There are two more yet to be announced projects from me that will be on the way in the future.

'Till next time,
